A DBR, or Dynamic Braking Resistor, is a component used in electrical systems, particularly in motor control applications, to dissipate excess energy and improve braking performance.

A Dynamic Braking Resistor is a device that dissipates the excess energy generated during the braking of an electric motor. This helps in reducing the braking time and controlling the motor speed more effectively.

When an electric motor decelerates, it acts as a generator and converts kinetic energy into electrical energy. This generated electrical energy needs to be dissipated to prevent damage to the motor and drive system. The DBR absorbs this excess energy and dissipates it as heat.
